Professore Emerito all’Hunter College and graduate Center, alla City University di New York. È a capo della Faculty of the New York University Postdoctoral Program, dello Steven Mitchell Center, del National Training Program of the National Institute for the Psychotherapies, del Philadelphia Center for Relational Studies e del Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California in San Francisco. È autrice di Holding e Psychoanalysis (Routledge, 2014) e di oltre sessanta articoli. Svolge attività clinica privata a New York.
